blocks only while you focus.
- during focus, a site on your list opens a “not now” page with your next move instead.
- outside a session, every site opens normally.
- starts with a short list of social sites such as reddit.com and x.com. edit it any time under ··· → manage.
- need it? take 5 minutes on just that site. the timer keeps running.
- pause the timer and the blocker pauses too.
small things
projects and task lists, behind ···. set any task as your next move.
gates: deadlines that count down.
Alt+Shift+P or the toolbar button starts or pauses the timer from any tab.
the shortcut is a default you can change. pausing pauses the blocker too.
a notification when a focus block or break ends.
quiet focus: one switch turns the focus screen and the “not now” page neutral.

- your tasks (with when you added and finished each), projects and gates (dated deadlines)
- your task for today and your next move
- timer state and settings, and the quiet focus setting
- your blocked-sites list
- sites you took a 5-minute pass on: the site's name and when the pass ends, in memory until Chrome closes
uninstalling deletes it.
chrome will say fokuss can “read your browsing history”. that's how it sees which site a tab opens. outside focus, it ignores the site; during focus, it checks it against your list. it keeps no history of the pages you visit and sends nothing anywhere.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. read the Limited Use policy
faq
do I need an account?
no. everything stays in this browser.
what's stored, and how do I delete it?
your tasks, your timer and your blocked-sites list, all on this device. the privacy page lists every item. uninstalling deletes everything; there's no export.
why only during focus?
outside a session you're free to wander. fokuss catches the sites on your list only while the timer runs. pause it or finish, and they open normally.
can I skip a block?
yes. take 5 minutes on just that site. the timer keeps running.
how long are sessions?
25-minute focus blocks and 5-minute breaks.
what's the shortcut?
Alt+Shift+P by default, or click the toolbar button. if another extension already uses that shortcut, Chrome may leave it unset. change it at chrome://extensions/shortcuts.
chrome asked “change back to Google?”
choose “keep it” to keep fokuss as your new tab.
where's my search box?
use the address bar. fokuss doesn't add one.
which browsers does it work in?
desktop Chrome. it hasn't been tested anywhere else.
what does it cost?
fokuss is free.
every new tab starts with your next task.
